Williamsburg Welcomes our New Assistant Principal

Mr. Troy Marquardt

It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself. My name is Troy Marquardt (most call me Mr. M) and it is an absolute pleasure to be joining the Williamsburg Elementary Family as your Assistant Principal. After four years as the Assistant Principal at McMichael High School and 12 years as a Science Teacher at Rockingham County High School I am ready to jump right in and get to know each of you.

I was born in Peoria, Illinois and moved to Greensboro at the age of 16 where I attended Page High School. My post-secondary education was at North Carolina State University where I earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, and Zoology; additionally, earning a Masters in Plant Physiology with a Minor in Biotechnology. So much for med school or the USDA! After teaching for several years I pursued National Boards then several years later attended Gardner-Webb University where I earned a Master's Degree in Educational Administration in 2014.

My educational philosophy is based on an uncompromising belief that all students can learn given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family. I view a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and students. I believe partnerships with parents and community allies are essential to enriching the experience at Williamsburg Elementary.

I live with my wife, Rachel, and two children, Kaitlyn and Trey, in Reidsville. I am active at Woodmont UMC where I serve as Trustees chair and participate in our Monday night meal ministry at our Mission First campus. During my free time, I enjoy piddling in the garage, working on various home and yard projects, horse-playing with our German Shepherd and spending time with family.

I am excited and eager to work with students, staff, and the amazing community who make Williamsburg a great school. My mission is to ensure your child’s success and build relationships with all our wonderful students, families, teachers, and staff. I value feedback and my door is always open. Please feel free to contact me at any time, my door is always open., or by phone at (336) 349-4632.

I am excited to be a Wildcat and look forward to a fantastic year!

Wishing you and your family a safe and healthy school year!!!
